Dr. Michael J. Hervey was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and served in the U.S. Navy before earning his Bachelor’s from Morehouse College and a Master’s in Biology from Harvard. He trained at the University of Virginia and the University of Minnesota, where he excelled in leadership and research. After completing his OB/GYN residency, he focused on high-risk women’s health and inclusive care.
Dr. Hervey now practices at Premier OB/GYN LLC with his wife, Ellie Tan, a certified nurse-midwife (CNM), and women’s health nurse practitioner (WHNP).
Premier OB/GYN LLC was built with midwifery at its center, aiming to provide compassionate care that honors both mother and baby equally. Our mission is simple: empower women, promote healthy families, and foster trust in the care they receive.
Unfortunately, many women have shared stories where choices were taken away or care was dictated without their input. These experiences often lead to lasting harm and erode confidence in the healthcare system. At Premier OB/GYN, we strive to change that by offering a safe, empowering space where every voice is heard.
“I will not push without an epidural.”
Her body was ready. Her baby was near. But Kieara’s voice—calm, clear, and unshakable—cut through the urgency. She heard the facts. And still, she chose.
This is the heartbeat of Her Body, Her Baby: real women, real choices, real power.
In childbirth, where two lives are at stake, decisions often collide with protocol. But what if the key to safer, more empowering births isn’t control—but trust?
STRENGTHENING MATERNITY CARE THROUGH RESPECTFUL COLLABORATION.
In today’s maternity care landscape, collaboration between midwives and physicians is crucial for providing safe, respectful, and empowering care. Empowering Birth shows how these healthcare professionals can work together to support birthing individuals, inspire colleagues, and promote evidence-based practices.
With real case studies, research-based insights, and practical guidance, the book highlights the importance of mutual respect and shared decision-making. It’s an essential read for healthcare providers, educators, and anyone looking to improve or expand their collaborative practice.
High-quality maternity care includes communication, partnership, and humanism, not just medical management.
By sharing lived experiences, we normalize expectations of dignity in care and expose where the system fails.
